Bryant Park is spectacular this time of year, lush with flowers and fun. Come walk with me and experience this oasis in the middle of Midtown!
It’s been a few weeks since I’d walked through Bryant Park. I was really looking forward to seeing how the flowers have bloomed. I approached the park from the north side of the New York Public Library, where the terraces are lined with urns of white begonia.

Picnic Performances
Bryant Park has a full schedule of entertainment and family events. Saturday was day two of the Emerging Music Festival. You can check out the summer schedule on the park’s website here.

Over 12 million people visit Bryant Park each year! It’s one of the busiest public spaces in the world.

Le Carrousel Magique

One of the things I love about this park is the mellow atmosphere. People really slow down here.

The Fountain
The Josephine Shaw Lowell Memorial Fountain (1912) commemorates social worker Josephine Shaw Lowell, who founded the Charity Organization Society.

The Birdbath
How have I never noticed this little path to the birdbath?

It truly don’t feel like you’re in the middle of midtown Manhattan.

Art in the Park
What a perfect spot to capture the intimacy of this almost private corner of Bryant Park.

The Grill
The Bryant Park Grill has been in the news a lot lately. According to the New York Post, the lease for the elegant glass building was not renewed to Ark Restaurants. The park is choosing to go with world-famed chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. You can read about it on the Post’s website here.

London Plane Trees
This is my favorite photo from my visit. No matter the season, the wonderful wavy shape of the London Plane trees are truly nature’s fine art.

The circle completed, I leave the park along 42nd Street, the north side of the New York Public Library.
How to get there:
Bryant Park is between Fifth and Sixth Avenues and between 40th and 42nd Streets in Midtown.
Subway: 7, B, D, F, M at 42nd St.
Bus: M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M7, M42, M55, Q32

That birdbath is so beautiful, I wouldn’t have noticed such a quaint gem right in the park. I also adore the way the London Plane trees create such a sense of security below the canopy. Very lovely!
A big surprise to me it’s one of the busiest spaces in the world! It always was a favorite of mine. You take things for granted living close by.
Love the London Plane trees. Wonder what they’re leaning towards? Now I have to read up on them.
Such great snaps!
