I was one of 2 million folks who came out to watch the 263rd St. Patrick’s Day parade march up Fifth Avenue. Come along with me and see all the happy people!

In 1848, a small group of Irish men and women formed what is known today as The Cavan Protective & Benevolent Association. goals are to foster a spirit of friendship among the members, and to help them and their families in time of sickness and death.
The NYC parade is the oldest and largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the world. The first parade was held on March 17, 1762 – 14 years before the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
I started watching the parade across from Grand Army Plaza, in front of the Sherry Netherland. I found this area to have the thinnest crowd and was able to find a spot in front quickly. The farther south I wandered, the thicker the crowd grew.
